Computer Lab at the College of Visual Arts and Design

The Computer Lab is open to all currently enrolled UNT students as well as faculty and staff. In addition to traditional computer lab services, we provide services that are curriculum-focused: software, hardware and other services that are required by students enrolled in arts and design courses. We offer a wide-range of services to support the academic needs our students: color laser jet printing on the paper provided by the lab, large format color printing, standard and large format scanning, photo printing, 3D printing, graphic design tools and tablets, and specialized lighting areas for students to review their work. All software applications used in the courses taught in our college are available in the computer lab. The Computer Lab is always open during the university's normal business hours and we offer additional hours on weeknights and weekends.

If you are an instructor wanting to reserve a laptop cart to be used in your classroom, please visit the Reservations page.

About the Computer Lab

The computer lab is available for use by all currently enrolled UNT students in support of their academic programs. CVAD faculty and staff will be provided access to the computer lab on a space-available basis. Priority will always be given to students. Once space is at a premium, faculty and staff will be requested to leave to allow access for students.

CVAD faculty and staff will be provided access to the computer lab on a space-available basis. Priority will always be given to students. A valid UNT ID is required for admission. Once space is at a premium, faculty and staff will be requested to leave to allow access for students.

Each patron may only be assigned to one computer at a time. Patrons may be assigned to a computer and an additional “non-computer” workspace simultaneously (i.e.: a computer and a 3D printer).

No patrons may be in the lab if not assigned to a workspace. No patrons are allowed in the lab outside of posted lab hours.

Policy Abuse

The Computer Lab Management has the authority to restrict lab access from any patron who abuses the policies set forth in this document, and policies set forth by the Student Computer Lab system. Any member of the lab staff may inform patrons of policies that may be in violation and report such observations to the Lab Manager.

Restricted access from the CVAD Computer Lab does not necessarily result in restricted access from labs in the SCL system. However, depending on the nature of the offense, other lab managers may be made aware of the offense so that they may make their own, informed decisions.

If a patron is banned from the computer lab, the chair of the department for their chosen major will be informed.
