Job #7305950: Information Technology- Student

CVAD is hiring Information Technology Student Technicians. These positions are part of our service desk, providing support to our instructors and students, but will also be part of our Innovation Technology team and will be included in the development of new services. You will be able to help research, design, and develop projects that help support the college and campus.

All CVAD IT student employees will have Service Desk responsibilities: working directly with end-users, providing support in instructional spaces, documenting solutions, responding to tickets, service monitoring, and deploying and testing new equipment and services.

This position will be responsible for performing tasks in the new CVAD Building: the CVAD Service Desk, CVAD Student Computer Lab, and the CVAD Digital Fabrication Lab. Assistance in other areas will be required when needed.

Applicants should possess strong communication skills (verbal and written) and work well with others as they will be required to assist faculty and students.

The ideal candidate will have some familiarity, and/or a willingness to continue to learn, in the following areas:

  • Windows, MacOS, and Linux Operating systems.
  • Networking principles.
  • Information Security practices.
  • Git workflow.
  • Proficient in scripting with PHP, Python, Perl, JavaScript.
  • Enterprise server configuration and management.
  • Open-Source software solutions.
  • Active Directory.
  • Lightweight Directory Access Protocol.
  • Experience with the Raspberry Pi or other IoT devices is a plus.
  • Experience with HTML5 and CSS is a plus.
  • An interview will be required, in-person or via Microsoft Teams, to be considered for the position.

    You may be asked to provide samples of your work.

    Pay is variable, depending on current skill level.
